What it does

Kimchi is a sophisticated terminal-based coding agent that transforms the CLI into a full-fledged AI development environment. It provides an interactive TUI where users can engage with a multi-model orchestrator to handle complex coding tasks, codebase exploration, and project management.

• Multi-Model Orchestration: Dynamically delegates tasks to specialized roles (Orchestrator, Builder, Reviewer, Explorer) using a pool of the best available LLMs.
• Ferment Project Mode: A progressive-refinement system that persists structured plans (goals, phases, steps) across sessions, ensuring continuity in long-term development.
• Remote Teleport: Allows session multiplexing by spawning and attaching to remote sandboxes without restarting the local harness.
• Context-Aware Intelligence: Automatically loads global and project-level context files (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md) to refine agent behavior based on project needs.

Installation

• macOS/Linux (Homebrew): brew install getkimchi/tap/kimchi
• Direct Install: curl -fsSL https://github.com/getkimchi/kimchi/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

After installation, run kimchi setup for configuration and kimchi to launch the agent.

Supported hosts

Confirmed for local terminal environments and compatible with Pi-mono SDK targets.
