GuideDAO Code

What it does

GuideDAO Code is a CLI-based AI coding assistant that connects your terminal to Claude (via Anthropic API) and an MCP filesystem server to let you work on your codebase using plain English. Ask it to explain complex files, create new components, fix browser errors, or reorganize code — it handles the file operations directly.

Tools

• READ_FILE — reads the content of any file in your project
• EDIT_FILE — applies code changes to existing files based on natural language instructions
• CREATE_FILE — generates and writes new files (components, utilities, configs, etc.)
• DELETE_FILE — removes files from the project
• MOVE_FILE — renames or relocates files within the codebase
• EXPLAIN_FILE — produces a plain-English explanation of what a file does
• FIX_BROWSER_ERRORS — reads browser console errors and patches the relevant source files
• SEARCH_FILES — locates files matching a query across the project tree

Installation

Install globally via npm:

npm install -g guidedao-code

Create a .env file in your project root:

ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your-api-key

Then run in any project directory:

guidedao-code

Supported hosts

GuideDAO Code runs as a standalone CLI that bundles its own MCP server — it is not configured through a host client's MCP config. It uses Anthropic Claude internally.
