What it does
MCP Factory is a developer framework designed to accelerate the creation of Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. It provides a structured monorepo with templates and automation scripts to spin up new servers for APIs, databases, or basic tools quickly using FastMCP.
Tools
create_mcp.py: Generates a new MCP server from templates (basic, api, or db).test_mcp.py: Launches the MCP Inspector for the specified server.install_mcp.py: Automates the installation of the generated server into VS Code or Claude Desktop.
Installation
Clone the repo and ensure Python 3.10+ and uv are installed:
# To create a new server
python _scripts/create_mcp.py --name my-server --template api
