What it does
MCP-X is a comprehensive desktop host application that allows users to connect various Large Language Models (LLMs) to the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It acts as a central hub for managing AI agents, knowledge bases, and MCP server integrations via both stdio and SSE transports.
Tools
As a host, MCP-X enables the use of any MCP server tools. It provides built-in support for common tools like fetch (web content retrieval) and filesystem (local file access).
Installation
Download the latest release for Windows, macOS, or Linux from the GitHub releases page. For MCP server configuration, add servers to the internal settings menu in the app.
Supported hosts
Since MCP-X is itself a host, it supports all LLMs compatible with function calling, including ChatGPT, Anthropic, and Ollama.
