This skill implements the 'research' phase of a multi-phase orchestrator. When invoked it runs inside a Claude Code background session, reads prior-phase artifacts (triage.json), invokes the canonical research-codebase skill, and produces a standardized research document at thoughts/shared/research/<date>-<ticket>.md. It then updates the orchestrator signal file and emits a phase.research.complete.<ticket> event. The skill enforces artifact naming conventions, validates outputs, and contains explicit failure and retry handling to keep pipelines reliable.
Use this skill as part of an automated orchestrator pipeline when you need a reproducible research artifact for a ticket or work item. It is intended for CI-style runs where upstream triage data exists and the pipeline expects a documented research deliverable before downstream phases (plan, implement) run. Also useful when spawning a background research job that must emit a completion event.
Best suited for Claude Code environments and orchestration systems that can run background Claude sessions and shell helpers (e.g., Catalyst orchestractor).
This skill has not been reviewed by our automated audit pipeline yet.
