Generate or Refine a System Prompt

This skill covers the full lifecycle of a system prompt for a Langium DSL — from initial generation to iterative refinement. It can bootstrap a new prompt via lai gen sysprompt or guide targeted refinements based on evaluation results and language changes.

What it does

Generates a new system prompt from a language descriptor if none exists.
Diagnoses evaluation failures and suggests focused prompt edits.
Provides structure and guidelines for prompt sections (Introduction, Grammar Overview, Validation Rules, Scoping, Examples, Common Mistakes, Generation Guidelines).

When to use

You don't have a system prompt yet and need to bootstrap one.
Evaluation runs show low pass rates or recurring failure categories.
Language descriptor or validator rules changed and the prompt needs updating.

Example workflow

lai gen sysprompt to produce language.sysprompt.md
Review evaluation results: lai show latest --verbose
Edit the prompt focusing on the failing categories (grammar, validation, scoping).
Re-run lai evaluate and compare runs.
