Search for real-world places and insert geolocations into Obsidian notes using the Map View plugin and Obsidian CLI.
Adds geolocation capabilities to Obsidian via the Map View plugin and Obsidian CLI. The skill provides commands to search for places, insert coordinates into note front matter, append inline geo-links, and open a focused map view for a note. Use it to plan trips, record visited places, or embed place references inside notes that render as map pins.
Trigger when the user asks to add, list, or recommend places (restaurants, attractions, venues), to plan a trip, or whenever note content includes real-world locations. Also useful when converting place mentions into structured location data in front matter.
Best used with agents that can call shell/CLI commands (agents with Obsidian CLI integration) or Claude/Code-style agents that support command execution and file edits.
Obsidian Map View skill provides geolocation search, inline geolinks, distance/route calculation, and trip planning workflows via the obsidian CLI. No bundled scripts — purely instructional SKILL.md. Well-structured with clear command examples and thoughtful API cost warnings for routing calls.
Clean skill with no security concerns. Good awareness of API cost implications in the instructions. Recommend users set up API keys before expecting full functionality.
