What it does

Provides two tools for working with biology and medicine preprints: a keyword/category + date-window search (query_biorxiv) to browse recent preprints, and a DOI-based fetcher (download_biorxiv_by_doi) that returns full metadata, version history, and JATS XML links for a given preprint. Useful for finding cutting-edge preprints, retrieving original preprint versions, or obtaining machine-readable XML for downstream processing.

When to use it

• Find recent preprints in a subject area (e.g., "bioinformatics" in the last 7 days).
• Resolve a published paper back to its preprint by DOI.
• Retrieve full metadata + JATS XML for training/analysis pipelines.
• Gather version histories and licensing info for provenance checks.

What's included

• Scripts: none bundled with the SKILL.md, but the skill documents two agent tools expected in the project (query_biorxiv and download_biorxiv_by_doi).
• References: links to the bioRxiv API and homepages.
• Instructions: clear usage patterns and common pitfalls (server choice, DOI normalization, handling withdrawn papers).
